Geoffrey Ellis, has developed a line of Bansuris created from a variety of Attractive Woods. These are thin walled flutes that have similar dimensions to the Indian Bamboo Flutes. Geoffrey, finishes the Flutes in such a way that they are highly stable and resistant to moisture, making them free from many of the issues that bamboo instruments are prone to, such as sensitivity to climatic changes that may cause cracking. These Flutes have been endorsed by American Bansuri Player John Wubbenhorst. They are created from various woods, depending upon availability and feature a Lip Plate created from African blackwood. Some of the woods used include Padauk, Bubinga, Black Walnut, Cherry, Jatoba and Maple. All of the woods used are responsibly harvested or [ when possible ] salvaged timbers. Needless to say, Wood Bansuris are more expensive than any of the Bamboo Flutes due to the labor and technique involved in creating these thin - walled Instruments.

These Flutes, donot need Oiling. Just Clean the Inside after every Playing Session.

The First letter of the Flute call out denotes the Tonic [ Indian Sa ]. Tonic is the Note played with Top 3 Finger Holes Closed.
The Second letter denotes the Key [ Western CallOut ]. Key is the Note played with all 6 Finger Holes Closed.
The same Bansuri may be referred to by either its Tonic or Key.
